Nobody cares about your failure, so just fail fast

Ask yourself: "This week, how much time did I spend thinking about someone I know who tried something and failed?" The answer will often be "a couple of seconds".

Next, ask yourself, "This week, how much time did I spend thinking about myself and my loved ones?" The answer will often be "a couple of days" or "the whole week".

If you apply the same algorithm to other people, you will realize that nobody cares about your failure, they just care about themselves and their loved ones, just like you do.

Even when you succeed, people tend to project your success into their lives, they imagine themselves achieving the same thing, they don't really care about you, it's The Man In The Car Paradox highlighted by Morgan Housel in The Psychology of Money: When you see someone driving a nice car, you rarely think, “Wow, the guy driving that car is cool.” Instead, you think, “Wow, if I had that car people would think I’m cool.” Subconscious or not, this is how people think."

If you want something, go for it; you might fail and learn, or succeed and get what you want. Either ways, nobody gives a damn.

People will laugh at your failure for a couple of seconds and move on with their lives, or admire your success for a couple of seconds and imagine themselves in your spot for the rest of the day (or the rest of their lives if you are Michael Jordan).
